Goran Turnsek (1978) comes from Ptuj, Slovenia. He studied modern dance at the Academy of Theater and Dance in Amsterdam and photography at the Fotoacademie Amsterdam. He collaborated with Krisztina de Châtel, Marina Abramovic and Nicole Beutler. After the dance career he developed an interest in the relationship between performance and photography. He created dance choreographies Being Blanka (2009), Water beast (2010) and Chatting with Marcin (2010). In 2015 he graduated with the photo project ‘Jakob’ which was shortlisted by Unseen Dummy Award and Selection of Dutch photography. So far he performed at Julidans (Amsterdam), Dance Umbrella Festival (London, 2007), Dnevi suvremenog plesa (Zagreb/Rijeka, 2009), held solo exhibitions in Theater aan het Vrijthof (Maastricht, 2016), Podium Mozaiëk (Amsterdam, 2017) and group exhibitions at WEP (Groningen, 2010), Gallery Walls (Amsterdam, 2008), Art’otel (Amsterdam, 2015), Kadmium (Delft, 2016) and Rotterdam Photo Festival (Rotterdam, 2017). His work consists of photography, photo books and performance and has been published in the British Journal of Photography, Volkskrant magazine, Fotodigi and Photocaptionist, among others.
