Marija Sevic (1987) was born in Belgrade, Serbia. As a student at the Department of Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Belgrade, she received a scholarship from the French government and attended l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, in Paris. She has exhibited in solo and group shows including ‘Na Cidade Deserta’ (Brasilia, 2013), ‘It’s Hard to be … in the Time’ (Belgrade, 2013), ‘Giorni Felici’ (Milan, 2014), ‘Parallel Vienna’ (Vienna, 2015), ‘LISTE Art Fair’ (Basel, 2015), and many more. In her work, Marija observes how individuals relate to one another and therefore to society as a whole, so that their sadness and happiness become universal. By showing portraits with hidden faces in immaculate, airy scenery, she generates different psychological situations, which each person can intimately experience and be part of. As a co-founding member of U10 Art Space in Belgrade Maria manages exhibitions and other art-related events.
